Mourne Gullion Strangford Youth Rangers
The Youth Rangers programme is part of the Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark Youth Programme. It provides opportunities for young people aged 13–17 to take part in practical conservation, develop skills and build a deeper understanding of landscapes, biodiversity and heritage across the Geopark.
As part of a structured youth pathway, participants gain hands-on experience, contribute to community and environmental projects, and develop confidence through active engagement with the natural and cultural landscapes of Mourne, Gullion and Strangford.
The Foundation: Hands-on Learning, Real Impact
The Youth Rangers programme offers a unique five-day outdoor experience designed to immerse young people in the stunning landscapes, rich heritage, and hands-on conservation work of the AONB and Geopark.
As a Youth Ranger, you will:
Learn practical conservation and outdoor skills
Work alongside rangers, scientists, and local experts
Build friendships and pride in your place
Discover career paths in environmental and heritage sectors
We select 24 young people each year to take part. This is your chance to learn, grow, and lead – while having unforgettable adventures outdoors.
