Junior Rangers (6–13)

Mourne Gullion Strangford Junior Rangers

Early Spark: Discover, Explore, and Earn Your Badge

Our Junior Rangers programme introduces children aged 6 to 13 to the wonders of the Geopark through hands-on, family-friendly events in forests, beaches, and parks. Each participant receives a Junior Ranger Passport to keep track of their progress and record special memories.

How to become a Junior Ranger:

  • At your first event pick up a Junior Ranger passport.
  • Attend at least eight Junior Ranger Events held by Newry Mourne and Down District Council in the Geopark’s Forest Parks and Beaches over a 12 month period.
  • Don’t forget to check in each time using the online form.
  • For up an up to date calendar of Junior Ranger events head to https://www.visitmournemountains.co.uk/whats-on and look for the Junior Ranger Logo.

Once you’ve completed your journey:

  • Ensure you have checked in at each event and we will be in touch. If you haven’t heard from us after a couple of weeks please email [email protected]
  • Successful Junior Rangers will receive a signed certificate, a Junior Ranger badge, plus the opportunity to take park in a nature ranger session held at one of our Forest Parks.

This strand lays the foundation for a lifelong connection to nature and place and inspires the next generation of Youth Rangers.
