Community Ambassadors (18+)

Mourne Gullion Strangford Community Ambassadors

The Community Ambassadors pathway is part of the wider youth engagement journey within the Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark. While not a youth programme in itself, it provides a progression route for those aged 18+ who wish to remain involved and contribute to the Geopark’s work across communities, education and stewardship.

Community Ambassadors play an active role in sharing knowledge, supporting engagement activities and helping to embed Geopark values across schools, community groups and local networks.

This pathway builds on earlier participation in Junior Rangers, Youth Rangers and Youth Leaders, supporting continued involvement into adulthood.

Multiplication: Empowering Educators, Youth Workers & Leaders

The Community Ambassadors strand equips community representatives, educators and youth leaders members to bring AONB and Geopark themes back to their communities.

During the training programme participants will explore the AONB’s and Geopark, learn about the history and heritage of this unique place and get stuck in with hands-on activities.

Why take part:

• A 5-day blended in-person training.
• A further six zoom sessions aimed at equipping you with the skills to deliver your own AONB and Geopark workshops.
• A resource pack to the value of £1,500 help deliver your workshops.
• Access to a network of like-minded peers.
• Toolkits, and mentoring support.
• Once your workshops are successfully delivered, you will get a dedicated page on our website highlighting your area as an AONB & Geopark Community

Ambassadors go on to co-create and lead workshops with young people in their schools, youth clubs, or community groups – helping us embed Geopark values through education and outreach.

Who can sign up?

• Each community group must nominate two representatives ages 18+
• Representatives must commit to attending all of the guided training dates
• Representatives must commit to delivering six workshops back in their community
