Geopark Sustainable Tourism Cluster

Working Together for a More Sustainable Tourism Future

The Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark Sustainable Tourism Cluster is a collaborative network of businesses committed to promoting sustainable tourism across the unique landscapes, communities, and heritage of the Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark and – encouraging more sustainable tourism to the destination.

Convened and supported by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council (NMDDC), the Cluster brings together tourism providers and stakeholders to champion responsible tourism that benefits local people, protects our natural and cultural assets, and strengthens our local economy.

Who Can Join?

We welcome applications from businesses and individuals working in the following sectors within the Geopark area:

  • Food & Drink
  • Outdoor Activity & Adventure (inc Well-being)
  • Accommodation
  • Culture & Heritage
  • Transport

To be eligible, applicants must offer a bookable or saleable tourism product or service and demonstrate a genuine commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

Why Join the Cluster?

As a member of the Sustainable Tourism Cluster, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow tourism professionals from across the Geopark, working together to shape the future direction of sustainable tourism in the region. Your involvement will contribute to the development of shared action plans and support local strategic priorities. By joining the cluster, you will also gain access to joint marketing initiatives, valuable networking opportunities, and potential funding streams. Most importantly, your participation will help preserve the natural beauty, rich heritage, and vibrant character of our region for generations to come.

How to Apply

Membership is normally by invitation and at the discretion of existing Cluster members.

To apply:

  1. Review the Cluster Terms of Reference to ensure your business aligns with our guiding principles.
  2. Complete the Application Form.
  3. Submit your application. NMDDC (Cluster Secretariat) will review submissions and contact you regarding next steps.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, with new members formally approved at the Cluster’s Annual Autumn Meeting.
